LABOUR DAY MONDAY 26TH OCTOBER NO LESSONS

Greetings

Last day for 2026 is our concert on the 21st of November but some tutors may need to follow up with makeup lessons the following week.

Concert Day is Saturday 21st November at Te Raukura ki Kapiti.  Please read below.

Enrolments for 2027

A friendly reminder that each year you need to reenrol if you want to continue in 2027.  No student gets automatically rolled over so please feel free to go online to secure a spot for next year.

A tutor will be in touch early February with class times and more information.  We try to accommodate the requested day and time as best as possible but because we deal mostly with group lessons, this all depends on similar abilities which needs to be matched up.

Some lesson days may change, not to mention the tutors might be different so please be aware that this might happen.

First lessons begin week beginning 15th February 2027 at Te Raukura ki Kapiti.

Enrolment Days are Sat 30th Jan and 1st February at Kapiti College if you wish to meet the tutor and find out more information otherwise, please feel free to enrol directly online.

This is our big Concert Day where the students get to perform to whanau and friends.  Times below but please check with your tutor for more information.

A big thank you to the Creative Community Scheme who generously granted the KMC funding towards this great event.

Instrument Hire:

For those who hired an instrument for 2026, I will be at Te Raukura on Tuesday 24th November from 3.30 pm – 5.30 pm in the foyer.

For our records, please inform me if you have returned it to your tutor after the concert.

For those who are returning to KMC next year, we offer Summer Hire for those wishing to hold on to their instrument.  There is a charge of $40.00, but I will contact you directly regarding this offer.

Fees for 2027

As mentioned in the term 2 newsletter, the KMC has regrettably lost some of its funding for 2027.

This has left the KMC in an unfortunate position of having to increase the contribution fees and remove the family and second instrument discount.  We take pride in the fact that we are an assessable and affordable music centre for all of our community to enjoy but for us to be able to meet these financial demands, this increase is necessary.  We appreciate your understanding.

  • Primary student for the year is now $385.00
  • Specialised instruments $455.00 (keyboard, bass guitar, saxophone, clarinet, flute, ensemble, band, and cello)
  • All secondary students $455.00
  • Adults $600.00.

Practicing

Now that we are getting to the pointy end of the year, it is paramount to keep the practice going.  Most students will be performing at the end of year concert so it’s important to keep up the momentum.

To quote the highly regarded American cellist, Yo-Yo Ma,…

“Music enhances the education of our children by helping them to make connections and broadening the depth with which they think and feel.”
