Kia Ora everyone
I hope you are enjoying your music lessons so far for term 2.
Term dates:
A reminder that the KMC annual contributions cover 30 lessons per year plus the end of year concert.
Term 1 had 6
Term 2 – 9
Term 3 – 9
Term 4 – 6 Plus the annual concert.
Term 2 ends Monday 29th June. This Monday lesson is to make up for the King’s birthday that was on the 1st June.
Some tutors who work Tuesdays and Thursdays might wish to make up any missed lessons in this final week, but they will communicate this will you closer to the time.
Term 3 starts 20th July.
Housekeeping:
I wish to thank you all for the general behaviour of the students arriving and leaving Te Raukura.
The college uses these practice rooms after school hours and often there are assessments and exams going on in the building the same time we are teaching so we need to be very mindful of our presence. Many thanks.
Payments and Refunds
A friendly reminder that there can be no refunds if your child wishes to pull out of their lessons. The cutoff date was the 26th February. Withdrawals after this date cannot be refunded as the class compositions have already been established for the year.
This also applies to those who wish to take sizable time off during the year but please contact the manager if you have concerns.
Sports
The KMC tutors are very supportive of children learning sports as well as music therefore we will try our best to accommodate fitting in around the winter sports but sometimes it doesn’t work out – we will do our best, but our hours/days are generally set at the beginning of the year.
Saturday 21st November 2026
This is our big Concert Day at Te Raukura ki Kapiti where all the students get to perform. Times to be confirmed but please mark the date on your calendars.
Funding
The KMC has, regrettably lost some of its funding for 2027.
This has left the KMC in an unfortunate position of having to increase the contribution fees by $80.00 per year – starting next year. We take pride in the fact that we are an assessable and affordable music centre for all of our community to enjoy but for us to be able to meet these financial demands, this increase is necessary. We appreciate your understanding.
Office Hours
The Manager’s position is part time. Email is the best form of communication and will be replied to as soon as possible. admin@kapitimusiccentre.org.nz
Concerns:If you have concerns or questions about your child’s lessons, please contact their tutor in the first instance. If for any reason you are unable to speak to their tutor, please contact the Manager.
Have fun and enjoy your lessons at the Kapiti Music Centre
Thank you and remember to encourage your children to keep practicing. Sometimes in group lessons, if there is little to no practice happening, the student can become discouraged and will compare themselves to others in the class who have maintained regular practice. They lose interest very fast.
Little and often is the best method but also to enjoy this gift of learning and playing music.
Warm regards
Amanda Kemp – Manager
