Mary Taylor

Mary started playing the violin when she was 4.

Her teaching career began whilst still a student at the Conservatorium of Music High School in Sydney, Australia, whereupon graduating she gained her Fellowship of Trinity College London on both violin and French Horn.

She expanded her music studio teaching Violin, French Horn and Piano at the same time receiving a scholarship with the Australian Broadcasting Commission National Training Orchestra on both Violin and French horn.

From there she worked in Brisbane as a freelance orchestral player before becoming a fulltime violinist with Orchestra Victoria. On returning to her home base in Sydney, she played with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra on both instruments whilst teaching in several schools and tutoring in Youth Orchestras.

She came to New Zealand to take up a contract position with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and was appointed a section leader with Orchestra Wellington until starting her family.

She is now a much respected and valued teacher on the Kapiti Coast and has contributed greatly to the ever-increasing number of young people who appreciate the beauty of having music in their lives.
