Term 3 Newsletter

Hello everyone and I hope term three has been going well for you all.

Term dates:

A reminder that this term ends on the 22nd of September and that we have a midterm break 21st – 25th August.  However, your tutor might wish to use that week to make up any lost lessons that have occurred during the year.

Your tutor will keep you informed.

Term 4 starts Monday 9th October for those who attend Monday lessons only.  This is a replacement Monday for the up-and-coming Labour Weekend which is the 23rd October.

Concert Day is Saturday 25th November.  Please read below.

KMC Concerts

Some of our KMC students will be invited to join the Kapiti Youth Orchestra for a local concert on Sunday 10th September at 2.00 pm at the Raumati South Memorial Hall, Tennis Court Road.

Your tutor will let you know if your child will be involved in this concert.

A lot of the KMC students go on to join the KYO and the two organisations share a great musical friendship therefore we decided the two should join forces and show our budding musicians what their potential next step could be.

Rehearsal Dates for the above concert.

For those who are involved, our first rehearsal date is Tuesday 22nd August at 6.45 pm for roughly one hour.  This will be in the large Puoro 2 upstairs at Te Ruakura Kapiti Performing Arts Centre.

Second rehearsal is booked for Tuesday 5th September same time and place.

Saturday 25th November

This is our big Concert Day where all the students get to perform to whanau and friends.  Times to be confirmed but please mark the date on your calendars.

Classes and practicing

A friendly reminder that learning an instrument requires regular practice so when you enrol with the KMC, the tutors expect consistent practicing to take place in the home.  Ten minutes a day is better than one long practice a week.  This allows muscle memory to develop.

Students who do not practice will hinder the progress of the class and is likely to lose interest.  The Centre will discuss options with the student or parents/caregivers but reserves the right to shift or withdraw a student who is not practicing or attending regularly without a refund.

To keep a place in the class students must attend regularly and those students absent for more than 3 lessons straight, without written or verbal notification, can be removed the roll.
