Andy Russell

Andy has been a music tutor for the best part of a decade, specialising mainly in teaching primary and intermediate aged kids, but adept in tutoring any age group from any background. The best part of the job for Andy is seeing a love for music develop in our tamariki and helping to guide young people through their musical journey. With a background in youth work, he understands the important role that music can play in our lives and believes everyone should get a chance to share in that.

Andy has played drums professionally for 15 years in a variety of different bands, covering numerous genres. He is still actively part of the music scene, playing bass, singing, and drumming (not all at the same time) in multiple bands across the lower North Island. Andy also has experience playing guitar and keyboards and will often use other instruments in drum lessons to simulate a band environment.

Since moving to Kāpiti in 2019, Andy has really enjoyed the lifestyle and vibrant creative scene of the coast, and believes that KMC and the programmes they offer are an excellent way to ensure that vibrancy continues to thrive.
