Age 7+
The ukulele offers the chance to learn how to get the best out of this increasingly popular instrument, and to use it to accompany a range of songs. Focusing mainly on chords to begin with and simple strumming styles. This is a class where students will learn the basics and gain experience in playing in a group. As students advance, they will be taught to read from tablature and different finger picking rhythms.
Senior students will progress to playing in parts, composing rhythms, chord progressions and reading from ukulele tabs as well as from a staff.
Basic theory is also part of each lesson. Students will learn 3/4, 4/4 and 2/4 timing, recognition of whole, half, quarter and eight notes and scales.
The emphasis will be on having fun and making music together.
