Chris began his music career very early. He first studied Clarinet while in Grade School at Paekakariki School, and Saxophone at Kapiti College, and then at the Wellington Polytech Conservatorium of Music gaining a Diploma in Jazz Studies.
Chris spent the last 30+ Years performing and recording with many New Zealand bands, and across different styles of music. He played his Saxophone and Clarinet in Jazz and Blues bands (Vipers and Shaken Not Stirred). He spent four years playing and singing in a Rock-and-Roll band in Sapporo, Japan (Honto), and upon returning to New Zealand, he wrote songs and played his Saxophones for NZ Reggae greats 1814.
After nearly ten years of recording and touring both locally and internationally, Chris returned to Kapiti where he began teaching Saxophone. He briefly taught at Paraparaumu College, and now teaches at the Kapiti Music Centre.
