Beginner Recorder ages 7+
Yemma also teaches Beginner Recorder classes based on the Musikit Recorder Series of Roger and Carol Buckton and all students will need to purchase this book once the first 4 lessons have been completed. This is a 2 year course.
Alongside this we use the Musikit Theory of Music workbook to reinforce understanding of notation and rhythm. A clearfile folder with a coiled spine is also needed to hold pieces given as supplementary learning.

Level B Descant and Treble classes
For Level B (approximately 3rd year) descant classes and treble classes no tutor book is required.
Learning the treble is encouraged after 3 years on the descant recorder although some students do prefer to do a 4th year to enjoy playing advanced ensemble music on their descant.
Ensemble Recorder class
After a year on the treble, students will join an Ensemble group where they will experence all the levels of recorder – descant, treble, tenor and bass. At this advanced level they will have opportunities to perform at concerts and events on the Kapiti Coast, and perhaps take an Ensemble examination through Trinity College I am a strong supporter of performance, and the many benefits available.
Adult Ensemble
The adult ensemble is a wonderful opportunity to experience the satisfaction and joy of playing music together. There are no prerequisites for ability or experience. Just come along. You will be made most welcome.
